Adam was great in explaining camera function to a newbie. Easy laid-back atmosphere, yet productive. I left understanding my camera functions, at a basic level.

The instructor was great, she taught me exactly what I needed to know. On the other hand it was a bit hard to focus with the cold wind and rain. When I signed up, I did not know it was going to be an outside learning experience, I was picturing a classroom!

Happened to be on the grounds taking pictures of the flowers and the staff came out and released 500 Monarch Butterflies. I just happen to come across this newly released Monarch that was enjoying freedom and a flower.

My wife has given me more interest in capturing the Auroras over the years. We?ve hunted them without success always driving a few hours from Grand Rapids but on the night of May 10, 2024 things changed. We were watching TV when she saw that Auroras had ?100 chance? so I grabbed a small amount of gear and headed toward Cannonsburg. My goal was to get away from lights to the north. While my main camera was on a tripod getting a time laps, I was snapping shots with this Z6ii and 28-75 f2.8 Z le

On this dewy, fresh morning something compelled me to grab my camera and take a picture as sandhill cranes strolling gracefully through the front yard. Harriet pictured here is, as always, accompanied by Ozzie and their offspring of the season. They have been welcomed morning coffee mates for the last 12 years. The picture captures the calm presence and the dancer's restlessness of these beautiful visitors.

The Great Reno Balloon Race was this weekend. About a dozen balloon are up and aglow before dawn. This beautiful one was my favorite. Most shooting were using auto white balance, cloudy, or 5600K to keep the yellow cast from the flame. I prefer a white balance which retains the true colors of the balloons, especially for this balloon.

Location: Upper Glen Alpine Falls. I hiked to this location after sunset. The foreground is a single photo I took during the blue hour for clarity and sharpness. I couldn't wait for the Milky Way at this location due to high bear activity it was almost dark by the time I hiked back to the car. The Milky Way picture is a stack of 19 frames for noise reduction, taken a few hours later over Lake Tahoe, which is just a few miles away from the falls.Edited in Luminar Neo.
